Inclusive Leadership Cohort

Designed for independent schools, this guided cohort brings together educators and administrators at all stages of their work. It provides structure, accountability, and individualized support as participants develop and implement action-oriented initiatives within their roles and across the school community.

Over the course of this three-month (14-week) program, participants engage in a cycle of reflection, learning, and application. They design and carry forward a project connected to their role, supported by facilitator-guided reflection, curated readings and media, and collaborative group discussions during biweekly meetings.

Past areas of focus have included:

  • Designing curriculum and classroom experiences that reflect diverse perspectives and lived experiences

  • Strengthening support for international and multilingual students

  • Engaging school history and archives in ways that surface fuller institutional narratives

  • Examining library and information practices, including cataloging and representation

  • Aligning purchasing and vendor relationships with school values, including support for local and mission-aligned partners

In addition to group sessions, participants receive individualized support through one-on-one meetings and site-based consultation. The cohort concludes with a culminating session open to the school community, where participants share their work and reflect on key insights and next steps.

Library Staff,

"Engaging with DEI work is always enlightening.  It is imperative that I, as human being in this country continue to engage with this work.  I feel that if you stop learning and examining these difficult topics, you become part of the problem....Thank you Carolyn for leading our group.  Your support and encouragement saw me through delays in my project."

"Carolyn's support individually was invaluable. She is a careful listener. She asks thought provoking questions. I feel as though I made a sort of seismic shift in the way I do exhibitions, and I attribute a lot of that to her readings, frameworks, support and questions."

"[Our school] culture has huge issues with time management. As a result, we rarely work or talk with people outside our program silos. This group offered the opportunity for staff and faculty to talk and listen to one another, to hear what matters in our particular program areas, and to share ideas and gain feedback. A rare opportunity and one I'm very glad I participated in."
